Collograph Workshop

On Friday 7 December Year 12 A level students took part in a workshop on Collograph printing with visiting artist Sue Graham.

Collograph is a printmaking process in which materials are applied to a rigid base. The word is derived from the Greek word koll or kolla, meaning glue, and graph, meaning the activity of drawing.

Sue Graham is a local artist who specialises in painting and printing. She is a member of the Leicester Society of Artists and has taught in FE colleges and is currently teaching in adult education.

The students spent the morning preparing an individual plate based on their sketches, adding a variety of natural and man-made materials to produce an image of the human form. The plate was varnished and when dry, the students inked up the plate to create a print. The images show the variety of textures used in the creation of their image.
