Next Steps

We are always delighted to hear where our students choose to further their careers or education following their time at Harington and this year is no exception.

Please see below for a focus on three of this years’ leavers

Joe is joining Leicestershire Police through a Degree Apprenticeship scheme which works in partnership with De Montfort University, following his completion of A levels at Harington School.
Joe says “This programmes provides three years of both ‘on-the-job’ and classroom learning for those training as Police Constables. Harington School has been a fantastic support in helping me to reach this point and kick-start my career. The school provided space to have telephone interviews, as well as allow time off for formal interviews and assessment centres. At every stage of the recruitment process, staff at Harington would always ask me how the process was going and offered support for aspects of it such as interview technique. Harington have supported me in equal measure to those who are taking a traditional university route and I am extremely grateful to the dedicated and hard-working staff who ensure that every student has a clear path to follow when they leave.”

Hannah will be starting a Sports Health and Well Being Apprenticeship.
As part of this she will be working in the PE department at Brooke Priory Primary School here in Oakham. Hannah is aiming to complete a Level 3 NVQ and L3 Sports Leader award. During her time at Harington Hannah was our Sports Prefect and a key member of our successful netball team. She also took part in the Sports Leaders Award whilst finding time to achieve A*BC in her A Levels. Hannah said, “I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Harington and I am so grateful for all the opportunities given to me. I loved being a member of the netball team and the Sports Leaders Award certainly helped me secure my apprenticeship.”.

Jon is taking a gap year after leaving Harington School. He will be working locally for the first half of the year before jetting out to Fiji to coach rugby to children for the rest of the year.  Jon will be soaking up the beauty of the South Sea Islands so we will await our invite! Jon said, “whilst at Harington I not only gained three A Levels I was proud of but enjoyed all the extracurricular activities provided by the school. I did a lot of volunteering as part of my Sports Leaders Award such as helping at the Rutland and Leicestershire School Games and coaching a Year 9 football team. I really enjoyed Harington, not just because of the friends I made but because of all the opportunities.” We wish Jon all the best.
