Harington School is celebrating as students achieved a strong set of A level results with 78% of grades at A*-C and 21 % of all grades at A*/A. This is the first set of results for the School which opened in 2015
and was judged by Ofsted as Outstanding in all areas in February 2017. It was also history in the making, as two students received the grades they needed to attend Oxbridge. Lydia Simms achieved a remarkable 3 A* grades in Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics and will study Chemistry at Oxford, whilst Jennifer Daw achieved the 2 A* and 2 A grades in Mathematics, English Literature, Chemistry and Biology required to study Veterinary Science at Cambridge. Another history maker was Freya Menzies whose A* AA combination will make her the first medic from the School. Lydia said, “l am obviously delighted with my results. I have loved my time at Harington and am looking forward to the next stage of my life with confidence.” A modest Lydia gave praise to the extra support the School has provided when applying in such a competitive field, and has recently returned from three weeks in Borneo as part of a World Challenge Group. Also grateful was a beaming Freya, “l have felt really well supported throughout my time at Harington. The link with Oakham School, which supported my medics’ application, was much appreciated.” She described how universities were keen to hear about her involvement with Duke of Edinburgh and Music concerts through the School.

John Harrison, Head of School, stated, “We are proud of the achievements of all our students who, alongside staff, worked incredibly hard to gain an impressive set of A level results. We know they will continue to enjoy success in all they do. All our students who have applied to University have confirmed offers which is a great achievement.”

The future for Harington School looks bright with the current Year 12 achieving 75% A-B grades in their only AS level examination, Mathematics. Harington School reopens on Wednesday 30 August and is expecting it’s largest ever intake.
